Geetika Varde, disciple of the renowned singer, Smt. Manik Bhide, is a Vocalist of the Jaipur-Atrauli gharana. A recipient of the coveted scholarship of the Sangeet Research Academy (Calcutta), Geetika is a graded artiste of All India Radio and has given several performances as well as lecture demonstrations at reputed Universities all over India and abroad as well as Institutes of Art and Culture.
Recently, she has given several recitals in UK, for organizations like Milapfest, South Asian Arts (SAA UK) Leeds, Bharati Vidya Bhavan, Nehru Centre, Allaraka Foundation, etc.
In India, Geetika has performed at prestigious music circles such as ‘Swami Haridas Sammelan', Indian Music Group, ‘Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan', BadeGhulamAliKhan Yaadgar Sabha, Nehru Centre, Udayan amongst others. She has received the ‘Surmani' title from Sur Shringar Samsad.
Geetika has had the honour of performing at the monumental Trafalgar Square, London, as a part of the Trafalgar Square Festival 2006, hosted by the Mayor of London. She has travelled to Europe and USA under the auspices of Jazz India where the theme of her lectures and workshops was: ‘Incorporating Indian Vocal Techniques in Jazz'.
She has an Indian Classical Music CDalbum released to her credit as well as; features as a singer in different albums/labels. Geetika's recent most successful musical venture is her solo album: “ROOH- Songs from the Heart” released by Music Today Company. ROOH was launched by the legendary Ustad Zakir Hussain and has been acclaimed by stalwarts and connoisseurs of music. Geetika not only sings with much flair the varied genres of songs in ROOH, but she has composed most of these songs herself and has also penned the lyrics for some.
Geetika holds a First Class Masters' Degree in Biochemistry, from the University of Bombay. She continues to evolve herself as a performer and presenter of workshops and demonstrations of Hindustani music.
